Concordia Boys Basketball Outgunned by Beloit in Season Opener
The Concordia High School Boys Basketball team was defeated 82-53 by the Beloit Trojans in the first game of the 2023-2024 season on Friday, December 1st in Beloit.
Beloit shot 57.1 percent from the floor, hitting 32-of-56 from the field. The Trojans also shot 50 percent from three, knocking down 10-of-20. Concordia, meanwhile, shot 40.7 percent from the field (22-of-54) and 28.6 percent from long range (4-of-14). Concordia hit 5-of-12 free throws while Beloit made 8-of-13. Beloit won the rebound battle 36 to 23.
Junior Center Bryce Beisner had a team-leading 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting. He also had 9 rebounds for the Trojans. Senior Guard Noah Gerstner added 20 points, connecting on 6-of-11 from behind the arc. Senior Quinn Eilert had 13 points and 5 rebounds and Sophomore Eli Johnson finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.
Junior Guard Peyton Retter led the way for Concordia, racking up 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting. He also had 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Retter was named our Nex-Tech Wireless MVP of the Game.
Senior Guard Payton Breese added 10 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds.
Freshman Ian Loudermilk came off the bench to score 7 points and pull down a team-high 7 rebounds, all of them on the offensive glass. Loudermilk received our H&R Block of the Game.
