Concordia Boys Tennis Competes at Ron Dahlsten Tennis Classic
The Concordia High School boys tennis season continued on a windy Tuesday, April 7th, down in Lindsborg for the Smokey Valley 2026 Ron Dahlsten Tennis Classic.
Below are how things shook up for the Panthers individually:
In singles, Noah Wood finished in 11th. Wood started the tournament losing 8-1 to Devin Boice of Haven. Wood bounced back with an impressive 8-0 win over Jimmy Bushnell of Pratt. Next, it was a battle in the NCKL as AJ VanCleave of Clay Center defeated Wood in a close 8-7 five-overtime victory. Wood would once again bounce back for an impressive 5 overtime 8-7 win over Christian Garcia of NCKL foe Abilene.
Keltyn Newton also competed in singles for the Panthers, but unfortunately did not place or win a match. Newton was defeated by Farha of Wichita Collegiate 8-0, Kyler Baker of Pratt 8-0, and Andrew Avena of Haven 8-4.
In doubles, the Panther team of Eli Henderson and Dakota Valcoure was able to get a couple of wins. Concordia was defeated 8-1 by Hesston to start the tournament and then lost in a close 8-7 six-overtime defeat to NCKL foe Clay Center. Henderson and Valcoure bounced back with an 8-3 win over Liam Gordan and Calvin Green of Pratt, and carried that momentum to defeat their Panther teammates, Ayden Nutsch and Creighton Nelson, 8-3.
Also competing in doubles was the Panther team of Ayden Nutsch and Creighton Nelson, who managed one win in the tournament. After being defeated by Hesston 8-0 and Haven 8-5, the Panthers bounced back with an impressive 8-2 win over Dax McAdoo and Jackson Doherty of Haven. Finally, Nutsch and Nelson were defeated by their Panther teammates Henderson and Valcoure 8-3.
Concordia will play its next game on Thursday, the 9th, at the Clay Center quad.
