Concordia Girls Golf Team Finishes 7th at Salina South Invitational

Led by Freshman Mya Niehues and personal bests by Senior Brecklynn Bonner and Sophomore Anna Widen, the Concordia High School Varsity Girls Golf team finished in 7th place at the Salina South Invitational at the Salina Municipal Golf Course on Monday, September 18th.

The Panthers had a team score of 417 on Monday, which was a three stroke improvement from the Salina Central Invitational on the same course two weeks prior.

"Drives were better; irons were straighter," Coach Gene Rundus said about his team's performance on Monday.  "Putting, and the short game in general, will be our focus as we move on into two more 18-hole tournaments this week at Marysville and Hesston (Buhler)."

Niehues led the way with a 97, finishing in 26th place.  Bonner also shot a 97.  Widen tied for 33rd place with a 101.  Senior Emma Herman carded a 122, while Senior Kaitlyn Nelson and Freshman Maddie Bowers each finished with a 127.

The Concordia Junior Varsity team competed in a three-team, 12-hole on the par three course with Salina South and Salina Central.  Freshman Breckyn Reynolds placed 1st overall with a 62.  Sophomore Elora Henderson was 2nd with a 64.  Sophomore Samantha McManus was 3rd with a 66.  And Freshman Peyton Pruser was 7th with a 74.

The Concordia High School Varsity Girls Golf team returns to action on Thursday, September 21st at the Marysville Invitational, followed by a tournament on Friday, September 22nd in Hesston, hosted by the Buhler Crusaders.
