Concordia Girls Return from Holiday Break with 50-26 Win Over Republic County

Concordia Sophomore Charlize Cash scored 20 points to lead the Concordia High School Girls Basketball team to a 50-26 rout of Republic County on Tuesday, January 2nd.

Cash shot 7 for 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 from three-point range.

Cash added 7 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists and was named our Nex-Tech Wireless MVP of the Game.

Junior Taylor McDaniel scored 9 points and was 4 of 7 from the field.

Sophomore Guard Rylie Jessup had 8 points, as did Freshman Post Jaylin Roush.  Jessup connected on two baskets from the behind the arc and also had 6 steals, receiving our H&R Block of the Game.

Sophomore Avery Stindt scored 19 points for Republic County, which shot just 25.9 percent from the floor (7 of 27) and ended the night with 25 turnovers.

Playing its first game since December 19th, the Panthers managed to get out to a quick start.  All five starters scored in the opening frame.  Cash buried three shots from long-range in the first-half that sent Concordia into halftime up 33-9.

The Panthers held the Buffaloes to two first-half baskets.

Republic County found success at the free-throw line, making 10 of 18 foul shots.  The Panthers, though, outscored the Buffaloes 17-11 in the third quarter to capture a 30 point advantage and force a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Concordia has improved to 3-4 on the season and will travel to Wamego to face the Wamego Red Raiders on Friday, January 5th.  Wamego, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, is 6-0 overall and 2-0 in North Central Kansas League play.  Tip is scheduled for 6 pm and live coverage of the game can be heard on 1390 KNCK, 98.3 FM and NCKToday.com.
