Concordia High School Football Team Honored at Banquet

The Concordia Knights of Columbus Council honored the 2023 Concordia High School Football team at a banquet on Sunday, November 12th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Parish Hall.

The Panthers Varsity Football team completed the season with a 2-7 overall record, losing to the Wichita-Collegiate Spartans in the opening round of the 2023 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 3A State Football Playoffs on October 27th.

Senior Running Back Mason Eickmann was named the team's Offensive MVP and the recipient of the Trevor Gennette Memorial Award.  The Trevor Gennette Award is given in memory of Trevor, the all-time leading receiver in CHS history.  The award goes to the most outstanding senior skill player, and the Gennette family has established a scholarship that goes to the winner of the award.

During his senior campaign, Eickmann carried the ball 112 times for 853-yards and 5 touchdowns.  Eickmann also hauled in 5 catches for 55-yards and 2 touchdowns.

Senior Right Guard Keegun Beims was selected as the recipient of the Keith Christensen Offensive Lineman Award.  Christensen is a former Panther who went on to play football at Kansas.  After his career at KU, Christensen was drafted in the fifth round by the New Orleans Saints, and later went on to play for the Edmonton Eskimos.  The award recognizes an outstanding senior offensive lineman or tight end.

Junior Middle Linebacker Dane Cleveland was chosen as the team's Defensive MVP.  Cleveland had 70 tackles on the year, including 6 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

Freshman Running Back and Linebacker Deekon Holbert was named the Scout Team Player of the Year.
