Concordia High School Softball Team Gets Home Sweep Over Riley County

The Concordia High School Varsity Softball team held its home opener on Thursday, April 7th, recording a sweep of Riley County in non-league play.

Concordia won the first game of the doubleheader, 11-8.  Junior Hanna Acree picked up the win on the mound for her third win of the season.  Acree and Junior Shaelin Giersch both had 3 hits in the victory.

In the nightcap, Concordia rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to force extra innings on their way to a 9-8 win.  Sophomore Erinae Flesher led off the bottom of the 8th with a double.  Sophomore Emalee Johnson then provided the game wining walk-off hit.

The win marked Concordia's second extra-innings victory of the season.

Flesher picked up the win for Concordia.  Johnson and Sophomore Brecklynn Bonner each had 3 hits in the game.  

Now 5-1 on the year, the Lady Panthers will open North Central Kansas League play on Tuesday, April 12th when they travel to Wamego to face the Wamego Red Raiders.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.

Concordia returns home on Thursday, April 14th for a non-league doubleheader against the Republic County Buffaloes.  Live coverage of the first game of the doubleheader can be heard on 1390 KNCK, 98.3 FM and NCKToday.com.
