Concordia High School Volleyball Team Goes 1-2 at Quad in Abilene
The Concordia High School Volleyball team went 1-2 at a quad hosted by the Abilene Cowgirls on Thursday, September 1st.
The Lady Panthers fell to host Abilene, 21-25, 18-25. Sophomore Kenlee Williams had 6 kills and 1 block. Senior Shaelin Giersch finished with 5 kills and 3 digs. Sophomore Taylor McDaniel posted 3 kills, 3 points and 1 block. Junior Carlie Carlgren had 2 kills and 9 digs. Junior Callie Parker ended up with 7 points, 3 kills and 2 digs. Senior Madison Starr had 8 digs and 2 points, while Senior Hanna Acree added 8 digs.
Concordia earned a victory over the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs in straight sets, 25-9, 25-13. Junior Hattie Blackwood scored 8 points with 2 aces and 8 digs. Carlgren had 7 kills, 8 points with 2 aces and 3 digs. McDaniel finished with 5 kills and 2 digs. Parker provided 4 kills, 1 block, and 9 points with 2 aces. Williams posted 3 kills and 2 blocks. Giersch had 2 kills and 2 blocks. Acree finished with 10 digs and 3 points, while Starr had 5 digs and 5 points with 2 aces.
Concordia concluded the night by losing in three sets to the Smoky Valley Vikings, 25-18, 17-25, 20-25. McDaniel led the way with 15 kills, 2 points and 3 digs. Carlgren had 6 kills, 3 points and 15 digs. Williams finished with 4 kills, 6 digs and 2 blocks. Parker had 5 points with 2 aces, 1 kill, 2 blocks and 3 digs. Blackwood turned in 9 digs and 7 points. Starr had 7 points with 4 aces and 9 digs. Acree had 5 points with 1 ace and 13 digs. Giersch added 2 kills and 1 block, while Kynlee Hamel posted 3 kills, 2 digs and 3 blocks.
Now at 2-5 overall, Concordia will enter North Central Kansas League play on Tuesday, September 6th when they travel to Clay Center to face the Clay Center Tigers. The first match will begin at 5:15 pm.
