Junior Daniel Vines was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Year for the Concordia High School Wrestling team at the team’s annual year-end banquet on Monday, March 21st.

This winter, Vines reached the state title match at 126 lbs. in his first career appearance at the Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament.  Vines recorded a 2nd place finish at the state meet and finished the season at 38-2 overall.

Vines told KNCK Sports he matured a lot during his junior season.

Other wrestling award winners were Senior Teggan Workman who was named the Most Outstanding Female Wrestler of the Year, Senior Toby Wahlmeier who was selected as the recipient of the Panther Leader Award, and Freshman Tracer Murdock who was chosen as the Young Wrestler of the Year.

Senior Keyan Miller was named the recipient of the Doug Moore Scholarship Award.

Miller ended his Panther wrestling career as a two-time state medalist after winning a 3rd place medal at 182 lbs. this winter at the state wrestling tournament.  Miller, who medaled 6th overall at 170 lbs. as a junior, concluded his senior year at 41-3.

Miller said dropping a match in the championship semifinals motivated him to wrestle back and secure a 3rd place medal.

Also, Miller, Workman and Senior Nathan Brown were named All-Academic First Team, while Wahlmeier was named All-Academic Honorable Mention by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.
