Concordia High School Wrestling Team Ranked Heading Into First Dual Tournament

The Concordia High School Wrestling team debuted at No. 10 in the latest Class 4A Wrestling Rankings released by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association on Tuesday, December 6th.

Andale tops the rankings, followed by second-ranked Rose Hill and No. 3 Augusta.  Paola came in fourth, while Tonganoxie, Clay Center, Chanute, Abilene and Baldwin rounded out the rest of the top 10.

The Panthers feature three individuals ranked in the top six in their respective weight classes, including returning state medalist Daniel Vines, a senior, who is ranked No. 1 at 132 lbs.  Junior Christian Belden is ranked fourth at 106 lbs., while Tracer Murdock, a sophomore, is ranked fourth at 190 lbs.

The Concordia High School Wrestling team opened their 2022-2023 season on Saturday, December 3rd by capturing a 1st place team finish at the 2022 Raider Classic in Wamego.  Concordia put up a total team score of 318 points.  Vines, Belden and Murdock each recorded 1st place finishes at the invitational.  Additionally, Senior Koby Tyler (120 lbs.) and Junior Caleb Hanson (175 lbs.) posted 1st place finishes, while Junior Ashton Dooley (113 lbs.) and Sophomore Drew Sterrett (126 lbs.) finished as the runner-up in their respective weight classes.

This Friday, December 9th, Concordia will compete in its first dual meet tournament of the season, the December Duals hosted by Louisburg.  Other participating schools are Baldwin, Burlington, Independence, Louisburg and Prairie View.
