Concordia Panther Volleyball Sweeps Wamego in NCKL Action
The Concordia High School Volleyball team swept Wamego on Tuesday, October 4th to improve to 6-2 in North Central Kansas League play.
The Panthers have won seven of their last nine matches.
Concordia won the first match in straight sets, 25-21, 25-23. Junior Carlie Carlgren led the way with 10 kill, 9 digs and 6 points. Senior Shaelin Giersch had 5 kills, 3 blocks and 1 dig. Sophomore Taylor McDaniel finished with 4 kills, 2 digs and 3 points. Sophomore Kenlee Williams added 4 kills and 2 blocks. Junior Callie Parker had 3 points with 1 ace, 4 kills, 3 blocks and 5 digs. Junior Hattie Blackwood turned in 3 digs, 3 points and 6 assists. Senior Hanna Acree finished with 8 digs and 3 points. Senior Madison Starr added 1 dig, while Freshman Kynlee Hamel had 1 kill. Freshman Baylen Arnold had 7 points, 14 assists and 2 digs.
The Panthers also won the second match in two-sets, 25-20, 25-22. Arnold finished with 12 points with 3 aces, 16 assists and 3 digs. Acree had 12 digs and 1 point. Carlgren posted 6 kills, 8 digs and 1 point. McDaniel provided 5 kills, 5 digs and 1 point. Giersch had 7 kills and 1 dig. Hamel finished with 4 kills and 1 block. Blackwood ended up with 7 points, 8 assists, 4 digs and 1 kill. Junior Callie Parker provided 3 points with 1 ace, 4 kills and 1 dig. Williams notched 3 kills and 2 blocks, while Starr finished with 3 digs.
The Panthers travel to Russell on Thursday, October 6th for a triangular hosted by the Russell Broncos. Concordia then heads to Abilene on Tuesday, October 11th for their final pair of NCKL matches.
