Concordia Volleyball Goes 2-2 at Home Tournament

The Concordia High School Volleyball team finished 2-2 at their home tournament on Saturday, October 1st.

Concordia opened pool play with a 25-14, 25-22 win over the Hanover Wildcats.  Sophomore Taylor McDaniel had 11 points with 5 aces, 6 kills and 5 digs.  Junior Carlie Carlgren finished with 3 points with 1 ace, 6 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks.  Senior Hanna Acree provided 3 points with 1 ace and 11 digs.  Junior Callie Parker turned in 3 points, 2 kills, 3 digs and 1 block.  Freshman Kynlee Hamel had 3 kills and 2 digs.  Junior Hattie Blackwood added 3 points and 2 digs.  Senior Shaelin Giersch had 3 kills, while Sophomore Kenlee Williams had 2 kills, 1 block and 1 dig.  Freshman Baylen Arnold ended up with 3 points with 1 ace and 4 digs.

The Panthers then suffered a loss in straight sets to Southeast of Saline, 15-25, 19-25.  McDaniel had 4 points with 2 aces, 1 block and 2 digs.  Carlgren posted 2 points with 1 ace, 3 kills, 2 blocks and 6 digs.  Parker finished with 1 point with 1 ace, 6 kills, 1 block and 1 dig.  Giersch had 3 kills and 1 dig.  Williams added 3 kills and 1 block.  Hamel had 1 kill.  Acree finished with 7 digs.  Senior Madison Starr had 4 digs.  Blackwood added 2 points and 1 dig, while Arnold had 3 points and 1 dig.

Concordia bounced back from the loss to beat Minneapolis in straight sets, 25-8, 25-14.  Acree led the way with 20 points with 2 aces.  McDaniel had 10 points with 4 aces, 7 kills and 2 digs.  Giersch posted 7 kills, 2 blocks and 1 dig.  Hamel turned in 2 points with 1 ace, 5 kills, 1 block and 1 dig.  Williams posted 4 kills and 1 dig.  Carlgren added 1 point, 1 kill and 3 digs.  Starr had 1 dig.  Sophomore Kinsleigh Bethune finished with 1 point.  Junior Kaitlyn Nelson provided 1 kill and 2 digs, while Arnold ended up with 2 points with 1 ace and 3 digs.

The Panthers then ended pool play falling in two sets to Beloit, ranked #3 in Class 3A, 20-25, 23-25.  Acree had 6 points and a match-high 14 digs.  Hamel turned in 5 points, 4 kills, 4 blocks and 1 dig.  McDaniel had 4 points with 3 aces, 7 kills, 5 digs and 1 block.  Parker finished with 4 kills, 3 blocks and 1 dig.  Giersch posted 3 kills, 2 blocks and 3 digs.  Williams provided 3 kills, 1 block and 2 digs.  Blackwood added 3 points with 1 ace, 5 digs and 7 assists.  Carlgren had 2 points, 2 kills, 7 digs and 1 block, while Arnold finished with 3 points with 1 ace and 9 assists.
