Concordia Volleyball Sweeps Chapman, Improves to 4-0 in NCKL Matches
The Concordia High School Volleyball team swept a pair of road North Central Kansas League matches against Chapman on Thursday, September 22nd.
The Panthers, 9-9 overall and 4-0 in NCKL action, won the first match in three sets, 19-25, 25-19, 25-11. Senior Carlie Carlgren, returning from an off-season knee injury, posted 5 points, 9 kills and 7 digs. Senior Callie Parker had 3 points, 11 kills, 3 blocks and 4 digs. Sophomore Kynlee Hamel provided 8 points with 1 ace, 6 kills and 2 blocks. Junior Taylor McDaniel added 7 points with 2 aces, 6 kills and 4 digs. Junior Kenlee Williams finished with 4 kills and 3 blocks. Sophomore Baylen Arnold contributed 10 points with 1 ace and 8 digs. Sophomore Charlize Cash had 3 kills and 2 blocks, while Senior Hattie Blackwood added 5 points.
Concordia won the second match in straight sets, 25-13, 25-15. Parker led the way with 8 kills, 2 blocks, 5 points with 1 ace and 3 digs. Hamel had 5 points with 1 ace, 6 kills and 3 blocks. Carlgren turned in 5 kills, 9 points with 1 ace, 7 digs and 1 block. McDaniel posted 5 kills, 2 points and 5 digs. Arnold provided 3 points and 6 digs. Williams and Cash had 3 kills each. Senior Madison Meyer added 1 kill, while Blackwood ended up with 10 points and 2 digs.
Concordia will host the Wamego Red Raiders in their 2023 home opener on Tuesday, September 26th. The Red Raiders have lost six of their last seven matches, including dropping a pair of league matches to Abilene on Thursday. The double dual begins at 5:15 pm Tuesday in the Concordia High School Varsity gymnasium.
