Concordia Volleyball Team Splits Road League Matches with Clay Center

The Concordia High School Volleyball team opened North Central Kansas League play on Tuesday, September 6th with a pair of road matches against the Clay Center Tigers.  The Panthers split the two matches, dropping the first in two sets before winning the second in three sets.

The Panthers fell 17-25, 19-25 in match one.  Sophomore Taylor McDaniel had 4 kills, 8 digs and 1 block.  Junior Carlie Carlgren finished with 4 kills and 5 digs.  Junior Callie Parker had 2 kills, 2 digs, 1 block, and 5 points with 2 aces.  Sophomore Kenlee Williams added 1 kill and 1 block.  Junior Hattie Blackwood had 5 digs.  Sophomore Kinsleigh Bethune finished with 3 digs.  Senior Hanna Acree had 11 digs and 1 ace, while Freshman Kynlee Hamel had 1 kill and 1 block.

Concordia bounced back from the loss to beat the Tigers in three sets in match two, 25-20, 16-25, 25-16.  McDaniel led the way with 13 kills, 13 digs and 3 points.  Carlgren posted 11 kills, 10 points, 2 blocks and 15 digs.  Acree had 22 digs and 10 points with 2 aces.  Blackwood finished with 16 digs and 3 points with 1 ace.  Parker had 5 kills, 1 block, 2 digs and 1 assist.  Williams added 4 kills, 6 blocks, 1 dig and 1 assist.  Bethune provided 7 digs and 7 points, while Hamel ended up with 6 kills, 3 blocks and 1 dig.

Concordia will travel to Gypsum, Kansas on Saturday, September 10th for the Southeast of Saline Invitational.  In pool play, the Panthers will face the Southeast of Saline Trojans at 9 am, followed by the Hillsboro Trojans at 10 am, and the Circle Thunderbirds at 11 am.
