Concordia Volleyball Wins Twice at Russell Triangular

The Concordia High School Volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Thursday, October 6th at the Russell Broncos triangular.

The Panthers opened the triangular beating Russell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-20.  Junior Carlie Carlgren led the way with 11 kills, 12 digs, and 1 solo block.  Junior Hattie Blackwood scored 11 points with 3 aces, 3 digs and 18 assists.  Sophomore Taylor McDaniel had 5 kills, 4 digs and 2 points.  Sophomore Kenlee Williams provided 6 kills, 1 dig and 1 solo block.  Junior Callie Parker posted 4 kills, 4 digs, and 9 points with 2 aces.  Freshman Baylen Arnold added 5 points with 1 ace, 3 digs, and 5 assists.  Senior Shaelin Giersch finished with 4 kills and 3 digs.  Senior Hanna Acree had 10 digs, while Senior Madison Starr had 2 digs.

In the second match, Concordia took down Minneapolis in three sets, 18-25, 25-12, 25-18.  Carlgren had 10 kills, 11 digs, 5 points and 1 block.  Acree finished with 13 digs, and 8 points with 1 ace.  McDaniel posted 8 kills, 2 digs and 3 points.  Parker provided 7 kills, 3 digs, 8 points with 1 ace and 2 blocks.  Blackwood ended up with 16 assists, 6 points and 8 digs.  Arnold had 5 points with 1 ace, 1 dig and 12 assists.  Williams turned in 2 kills, 3 digs and 1 block, while Giersch had 2 kills 2 digs and 1 block.  Starr added 3 digs, while Freshman Kynlee Hamel finished with 5 kills.

The Panthers have won four in a row and nine of their last eleven matches to improve to 13-13 overall.  Concordia has its next action on Tuesday, October 11th when it travels to Abilene for its final pair of North Central Kansas League matches against the Abilene Cowgirls.
