Five from Cloud County Volleyball Named All-KJCCC West Honorees

Five players from the Cloud County Community College volleyball team have been named to the 2023 All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Volleyball team for their play throughout the volleyball season. 

The five honorees include second-team selection Doga Eski (outside hitter) along with honorable-mention picks Madison Ronnebaum (right side), Katelynn Brogan (setter), Bradie Medina (outside hitter), and Emery May (middle hitter).

Eski earns second-team honors after finishing the year with the eighth-best kills per set ratio (3.02) among KJCCC Division I players this season after recording a team-high 355 kills in 118 total sets. The 355 kills would rank fifth among KJCCC Division I players this season and 32nd nationally as the Kastamanu, Turkey native would also rank fourth in the conference and 36th nationally in attack percentage (.279). Eski also recorded 364 digs this season and had 41 total blocks defensively.

Ronnebaum collects honorable-mention All-KJCCC accolades for the second-straight year after appearing in 118 of Cloud County's 130 total sets and ranking third on team in kills with 245. The Marysville, Kansas native would also have the third-most blocks on the team including a team-high 12 solo blocks this year and finish with a .270 hitting percentage to rank sixth among KJCCC Division I players. 

One of Cloud County's most versatile players on the court this past season, Brogan would lead the T-Birds in set assists with 731 while ranking seventh in KJCCC Division I and 36th nationally. Adding 146 total kills and 365 digs, Brogan also provided 58 total blocks while being named KJCCC Division I setter of the week on October 10th. 

Medina would have a standout freshman campaign for CCCC after finishing second on the team with 255 kills (18th among KJCCC Division I players) and have 33 service aces to go along with 337 digs and 30 total blocks. The Minden, Nebraska native would have 11 matches this season in double-figure kills which included her last four matches of the year while putting up a career-best 25 kills against the Ottawa University JV team on September 23rd.

Rounding out the group of honorees for Cloud County is May who appeared in 34 of Cloud County's 35 total matches this past season and finished with 124 total kills and 35 service aces. The biggest impact that May would have throughout the season would come on the defensive end as the Andale, Kansas native finished tied for the team lead with 91 total blocks and had 105 total digs while ranking sixth among KJCCC Division I players in total blocks. 

Cloud County finished the 2023 campaign with a 22-13 overall record under first-year head coach Hilta Ramos while going 8-8 in the KJCCC. The 22 wins would be the most for CCCC playing at the NJCAA Division I level since the 2015 season while finishing tied for fifth in the KJCCC and losing in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament quarterfinal round to eventual Region VI Champion and national tournament qualifier Colby Community College.
