Panther Tennis Season Ends at Regionals

On Friday May 8th the Concordia Panther boys tennis team traveled to McPherson High School for the site of their 2026 Regional. For the second straight season the Panthers were trying to send a representative to compete in the Tennis State Championships, this year however this young Concordia team fell just a little bit short.

Below are the team standings from the Regional:

In #1 singles Noah Wood was the #12 seed in the 14 player tournament. Wood's season came to an end after he was defeated by the #5 seed Brandon Sims of Abilene 6-0 and in a close 6-4 contest.

In #2 singles Keltyn Newton was the #11 seed in the 14 player tournament. Newton's season came to an end after he was defeated by the #6 seed Uriel Cruz of Topeka Hayden 6-0 and 6-2.

Rylan Unruh of McPherson won the Singles Region Title after defeating his Bullpup teammate Cooper Bohme.

In #1 doubles the Panther team of Eli Henderson and Dakota Valcoure were the #10 seed in the 14 team tournament. Henderson and Valcoure's season came to an end after being defeated by the #7 seed Patrick Luke and Allphin Miles of Topeka Hayden 6-0 and 6-1.

In #2 doubles the Panther team of Ayden Nutsch and Creighton Nelson were the #11 seed in the 14 team tournament. Nutsch and Nelson's season came to an end after being defeated by the #6 seed McCager Wright and Ames Schielke of Colby 6-0 and 6-1.

"We had a growing year this year and saw improvement in all our players," said Head Coach John Turner. "We look forward to playing next year."
