Seven KJCCC Wrestlers Earn NJCAA All-America Honors, Cowley Leads Team Scores By Placing Seventh
Led by a seventh-place team finish from Cowley, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference had seven individuals earn NJCAA All-America honors by finishing in the top five of their respective weight classes at the 2026 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships, which took place March 6-7 inside the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
In total, three wrestlers from the conference wrestled for national titles, with Cowley sending Colt Collett (125 pounds) and Evan Rodriguez (141 pounds) to the final match of their weight classes while Labette’s Kyler Tabor (149 pounds) also wrestled for a National Title before coming up short. In the team scoring, Cowley finished with 108.5 points to earn their best team finish in program history, while Pratt placed ninth with 80.5 total points. Other KJCCC teams and their places in the scoring included Cloud County (24th, 25.5 points), Labette (25th, 25 points), Colby (29th, 175 points), Barton (33rd, 14.5 points), Neosho County (34th, 13 points), and Fort Hays Tech Northwest (47th, four points).
In addition to the national runner-up finishes for Collett and Rodriguez to earn second-team NJCAA All-America honors, the Tigers had David Sample earn honorable-mention All-America honors with a fourth-place finish at 184 pounds. Tabor for Labette was the lone Cardinal to earn NJCAA All-America accolades, while Pratt’s Matt Long (133 pounds, fourth) and Preston Hagel (197 pounds, fifth) were also NJCAA honorable mention All-Americans.
