Two Concordia High School Basketball Players Earn All-State Honors

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released their all-state teams on Monday, April 1st and two Concordia High School players earned their way onto those prestigious lists.

Concordia High School Sophomore Charlize Cash garnered Second Team All-Class 4A honors after leading the Concordia High School Girls Basketball team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots.  Cash averaged 12.6 points per game on 52.0 percent shooting from the field, including 60.9 percent from inside the arc, while pulling down 5.8 rebounds, dishing out 4.2 assists, and recording 4.1 steals per game.  She also notched 7 blocks on the year.

The Concordia High School Girls Basketball team concluded the 2023-2024 year at 13-9 overall, its first winning season since 2016-2017, and the program won a share of the 2024 North Central Kansas League title.

Concordia High School Senior Joey Henderson received recognition on the All-Class 4A Honorable Mention list.  Henderson led the Concordia High School Boys Basketball team in scoring at 14.2 points per game on 40.8 percent shooting from the field.  Henderson, who also shot 86-of-119 (72.3 percent) from the foul line, also finished his senior season with 3.6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Concordia ended the year at 13-9 overall and 7-3 in the North Central Kansas League, finishing second in the league standings.

Also in North Central Kansas on the girls side, Clifton-Clyde Sophomore Sevy Wurtz was named Second Team Class 1A - Division I, while Clifton-Clyde Senior Shea Wurtz and Washington County Junior Jesse Hoover received Class 1A - Division I Honorable Mention honors.  Juniors Carlie Brummer of Beloit-St. John's/Tipton and Anna Juenemann of Hanover were selected First Team Class 1A - Division II.  Hanover Seniors Katelyn Klipp and Tessa Lohse were named Second Team Class 1A - Division II, and Beloit-St. John's/Tipton Senior Lynelle Gengler and Pike Valley Junior Breanna Reeves received Class 1A - Division II honors.  Beloit Senior Peyton Remus earned Class 3A Honorable Mention recognition.

On the boys side in North Central Kansas, Clifton-Clyde Junior Jack Skocny was named Second Team Class 1A - Division I.  Clifton-Clyde Senior Trent Long received Class 1A - Division I honors.  Edward Horinek, a Sophomore at Beloit-St. John's/Tipton, and Braylon Meyn, a Sophomore from Hanover, were selected Third Team Class 1A - Division II.  Senior Eli Lawson of Bennington earned First Team Class 2A honors.  Bennington Senior Mister Smith was named Third Team Class 2A.  Beloit Senior Bryce Beisner earned First Team Class 3A recognition, while Beloit Junior Eli Johnson picked up Second Team Class 3A honors.
